From there, Carrey decided to take a risk and move to Hollywood. It was a very good decision. In the early 1980s, he appeared in front of millions of people on Evening at the Improve and The Tonight Show. In 1990, he made his debut in the sketch comedy series In Living Color. Movie stardom awaited him – though it wouldn’t last forever, of course.
Rise of Jim Carey in Hollywood
Carrey didn’t have to wait long for screen success. In 1994, he starred in no less than three films that proved to be big hits: Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask and Dumb and Dumber. Audiences – or at least most of them – loved his expressive slapstick style, and for the rest of the decade he scored one blockbuster after another.
