The current boss of American rap is back with a three-track opus to announce the imminent arrival of “Certified Lover Boy“.
Fans of the Canadian rapper (potentially equivalent to one-tenth of the world’s population) can rejoice. Drake reiterated his technique that worked so well in 2018. Indeed, a two-track project was released, with the global hit “God’s Plan” at the top of the gondola, on the eve of the release of “Scorpion,” his latest studio album. The name of this project: ” Scary Hours “. The second part has just been released and announces the immediate arrival of the long-awaited “Certified Lover Boy”, the superstar’s sixth studio album. This one had been postponed, when everyone was waiting for it in January.
To mark the occasion, the first artist to surpass 50 billion streams on Spotify has unveiled three tracks, including a video clip: “What’s Next”. Drake uses his usual recipe, an effective rap with an egotrip lyric on an ambient instrumental. We can already imagine the flood of challenges that will be born in the United States and then go around the world. The production is signed Theo Skudra, and shows us a rich and happy man in his beautiful flats and his beautiful cars, decorated with sapes that will make more than one fan drool. A little nod to France also stands out in the clip. Indeed, like PNL in “Au DD”, Drake has the right to his shot at the top of the CN Tower, overlooking his hometown like a king: Toronto.
The mini-opus is completed with two collaborations: “Wants and Needs” with Lil Baby and “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” with Rick Ross, who was recently invited by NPR to produce a Tiny Desk Home Concert. The first track offers nothing exceptional knowing the talent of the two rappers, but is pleasant to the ear and will make you move your head surprisingly. The second one lasts 6 minutes, without chorus, and starts with a verse by Rosay, completed by a constant kick by the Canadian. A real feat on the part of the duo. Now we just have to wait a little longer for the long-awaited album: “Certified Lover Boy”!
Among the 3 tracks unveiled by Drake, we find a solo entitled What’s Next which had leaked a few days ago on social networks. He also released 2 nice collaborations with artists he knows well, namely Rick Ross and Lil Baby, respectively present on Lemon Pepper Freestyle and Wants and Need. All of which offers a very nice foretaste to his public and to make the crazed progress little by little until the release of his opus. While waiting to know more about Certified Lover Boy, it’s time to let you discover the EP Scary Hours 2, available on streaming platforms and in listening below.
